Product Description

There’s such a lack in cute boy’s cardigan designs! I was looking for something to knit for my boy and couldn’t find anything even remotely close to what I wanted, so I had to design something. This cardigan is very simple; it is comprised of basic stitches to make a lovely pattern so you can knit it up quickly and easily. The pattern stitches on the front, sleeves, and back can easily be switched out for different patterns or omitted for a more basic cardigan. This is a really versatile jumping-off point!

The cardigan is worked from the bottom up on the body and sleeves, then joined to decrease in a raglan fashion. After the raglan shaping is complete, the shawl collar is picked up along the front and neck and feels seamless. Button holes are worked along the button band at any interval you desire.

Sizes: Boy’s sizes 4 (6, 8, 10, 12, 14) to fit the following measurements:

Chest circumference in inches (chest circumference in cm)
4: 22” – 23” (54 – 58 ½ cm)
6: 24” – 25” (59 – 63 ½ cm)
8: 25 ½” – 26 ½” (64 – 67 cm)
10: 27” – 28” (68 – 71 cm)
12: 29” – 30” (72 – 76 cm)
14: 31” – 32” (77 – 80 cm)

When it comes to sizing children’s clothes, I find there really isn’t a generic sizing for a particular age. In the pattern, you are instructed how to get the needed measurements so this cardigan fits your child like a glove! What is the point of hand knitting something if it’s not going to fit immaculately?

Yarn: 500 (650, 800, 950, 1100, 1200) yards/ 450 (600, 730, 875, 1000, 1100) meters DK weight yarn. Please note this is an estimate only! Also, consider if you are going to lengthen or shorten the garment, as that will affect the yardage needed.

Techniques: Basic increases and decreases, knitting in the round, basic chart reading, and wrap and turns.
