Pond Lily Set

Product Description

These designs were worked up for my lovely daughter, who is obsessed with all things frog right now. These designs are quite easy and looks so fun when completed. Both work up quite quickly due to the thickness of the yarn. These pattern is suitable for an intrepid beginner.

Beanie Details:

Sizes: Infant (Baby, Toddler, Child) (Small, Medium, Large) (X Large, 2X Large) to fit an actual head circumference of 13” (14”, 16”, 18”) (20”, 21”, 22”) (23”, 24”)/33 (35.5, 40.5, 45.5) (51, 53.5, 56) (58.5, 61) cm

Yarn: Super bulky yarn: 50 (65, 80, 95) (110, 120, 130) (140, 150) yards/45 (60, 75, 85) (100, 110, 120) (130, 140) meters

And 10 yards/meters of DK/worsted weight yarn in black (for mouth)

Needles: Size US 15/10 mm circular needles with long (40”/100 cm) cable, or size needed to obtain gauge

Size US 13/9 mm needles, or one size smaller than gauge needles

Double-point needles of an appropriate size for black yarn

Gauge: 9 stitches and 14 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on larger needles (worked in the round if you’re very responsible).

Notions: 2 stitch markers, a small amount of fiber fill, jumbo safety eyes (optional, 24 mm used in sample; can sub black yarn or buttons), a handful of t-pins, and a tapestry needle.

Techniques: Basic decreases, picking up stitches, knitting in the round, Kitchener stitch, and i-cord making.

Shawl Details:

Sizes: Shawlette (Shawl, Lap Blanket) to measure roughly 40” (50”, 60”)/102 (127, 152) cm in diameter.

Yarn: 500 (700, 1400) yards/460 (640, 1280) meters of super bulky yarn; 25 yards/meters of contrast color (optional, if working frog poms) and the remainder in main color.

Needles: Size US 15/10 mm circular needles with long (40”/100 cm) cable* and size US 11/8 mm double-point needles, or size needed to obtain gauge, and one – two size smaller double-point needles (optional, for the frog poms).

* Lap Blanket size will need an additional 60”+/152.5+ cm cable to change to when the work gets too bulky for the shorter cables. You may join several lengths of interchangeable needle cables if you do not have a super long cable.

Gauge: 9 stitches and 14 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch (worked flat).

Notions: 9 stitch markers, fiber fill, small safety eyes (optional, sample uses 10 mm), scrap amounts of black yarn (optional, DK weight yarn used in the sample), tapestry needle, and a blocking mat (optional).

Techniques: Basic increases and decreases, picking up stitches, knitting in the round (optional, for frog poms), wrap and turn short rows (can substitute German short rows if desired), and Kitchener stitch (optional).
