Product Description

Bombur is one of the few Hobbit characters that has knit handwear in the movies so I have tried to duplicate his fingerless mitts as best as I could. I think the cheerful chain yarn used for this is the perfect thing to embody our ginger giant!

The body of the mitts is comprised of Moss stitch and features really basic increasing for the thumb. Then the Seed stitch patch is worked flat and seamed onto the top of the mitt. Note that the seed stitch patch will be worked holding together 2 strands of yarn. This will bulk the patch up, but it does also mean you will need to be able to have 2 strands to work from at the same time. You can wind a small ball of yarn separate, or pull from the center of your yarn and hold it together with the outer strand of yarn if you have a skein or a cake of yarn.

This is the perfect pattern for beginners to making gloves and mittens to get their feet wet. The mitts work up quickly due to the heavy gauge yarn and have quite a lot of forgiveness due to the ease. If you get yourself in the correct ballpark on sizing, the mitts will do the rest!
The sizing on this pattern span from a small woman up to a large man. Make sure you check your palm measurement to ensure you are casting on for the right size! This unisex pattern looks just as great on a man as it does on a woman.
