Gauge: 23 – 24 stitches and 24 – 25 rows = 4”/10 cm in Wilderness chart (see Swatching section for details).

Notions: Stitch markers to distinguish chart repeats (if desired), small cabling needle (optional, if desired for cabling), rinse-free wool wash (such as Eucalan), blocking mat, wires (optional), t-pins, and tapestry needle.

Techniques: Lace knitting and chart reading.

Pattern Notes: We all need a little more lace in our lives, right? This complicate-looking stole is really just a combination of basic decreases and yarn-overs. Looks so impressive!

The lovely stitch pattern featured in the stole was designed by Naomi Parkhurst and originally appeared on gannetdesigns.com. The blog is called String Geekery and is really fun to browse and get lost in. She takes a new word every month and somehow (through some math/witchcraft) turns the word into a lace knitting chart! The word I’m working with here is “wilderness,” so you must wear this design while enjoying the woodlands.
