Sizes: Small Child (Large Child, Average Adult, Large Adult) to fit an 18” (19.5”, 21.5”, 23”)/45.5 (49.5, 54.5, 58.5) cm head circumference.
Yarn: 125 (150, 175, 200) yards/115 (140, 160, 180) meters of sock weight in 2 colors, just scrap amounts for the contrast color. Sample shown in Hedgehog Fibres sock weight in colorway Sock Fly and Marianated Yarns Scrumptious HT Fingering in colorway Hot Gossip (for contrast).
Needles: Size US 3/3.25 mm and US 4/3.5 mm circular needles with long, 40”/100 cm cable.
Gauge: 22 sts and 32 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on smaller needles, or size needed to obtain gauge and 2 sizes larger than gauge needles.
Notions: Small crochet hook (approximately size US E/4/3.5 mm) or 2 double-point needles that are 1 size smaller than the gauge needles (i.e. size US 2/2.75 mm), a tapestry needle, and a large party balloon (for blocking).
Techniques: Knitting in the round, basic increases and decreases, and crochet half-double crochet (for edging; optional. Can substitute applied I-cord for edging if preferred.)
